Reveal Your Dark Side Online Contest With B.U.M. Equipment

B.U.M. Equipment has launched yet another online contest for its avid patrons, this time with a dash of cosplay for inspiration.

Fashion Celebration
Bum makes the growing COSPLAY trend part of everyday fashion

Fashionistas all over the world are now wearing their true colors on their sleeves more prominently their moods. Fashion authorities in the country would tell you that the youth are taking trends out of the pages of magazines (and even comic books!) and into the streets.

Costume Play, or more popularly known as COSPLAY, for instance, is now a growing style trend in the Philippines. What used to be part of the Otaku culture (fans of Japanese comic books or manga), is becoming a common sight in everyday Pinoy fashion little by little.

There's a lot to Cosplay than a representation of a person's favorite anime character. It also speaks volumes about his/her fantasies, creativity and the center of it all, individuality.

That same level of individuality — which gives cosplayers the courage to show off their true identities costumes in public — runs deep in Bum's style philosophy. As a brand that represents the youth's conceptions and misconceptions, Bum is gradually recognizing the Cosplay trend into the Filipino fashion psyche by translating it into more prominent trend. Bum and Cosplay, after all, somehow speaks the same language.

So to mark this fashion assimilation, Bum is opening a contest for young Filipinos through their website. The local clothing brand is inviting young stylephiles to show their individual interpretation of the Cosplay trend by using pieces from Bum. While interested participants are allowed to wear their take on their favorite anime characters, the total ensemble should have shades of Emo Rock and Goth — Bum's signature look, ensync with “MY STORY” Bum’s culminating chapter.

BUM products (apparel) should be the core component of the costume design based on the character of choice. Costumes may be enhanced by accessories such as wigs, make-up, contact lenses, and other props. If they're feeling a little bit more creative, computer graphics may also be used in the photo layout to enhance the costume/character (with the BUM logo prominently seen in the photo).

Photos must be submitted to Bum as early as possible, so that they will have enough time to get "Likes" on Bum's Website. At the Blogger Fiesta... part 2

i arrived at an empty venue.

i arrived early. too early.

i was punctual for the first time.

i made many kalokohan unnoticed.

i sketched a lot.

i played with paper - actually it's pretend-scrapbooking.

i won stuff.

i made lists and inventories of prizes.

i got worked-up and overwhelmed because what needed to be listed was piling up and i wasn't keeping up.

i took home lots of goodies. *wink*

i met a lot of people.

i made some friends.

i went around the venue (SM North EDSA Annex), as in all the floors.

i took the stairs instead of escalators for no reason.

i come back to the venue after every wandering out of breath, but enjoyed the stairs.

i enjoyed the Blogger Fiesta so much.

i am looking forward to another Blogger Fiesta.

i wish another Blogger Fiesta would happen soon. sooner. soonest.

At the Blogger Fiesta...

at the blogger fiesta, i was one of the staff of the event. me, Michelle and Tess were in charge of the prizes and inventory of it. we had our seats on the side with all the stuff to be given away. seated with us were the hosts, Flow and Omar, while the speakers are up on stage (not really on stage though).

until now, i am still thinking about the conversation Flow and i had about him preferring having an event like we were having be held in the provinces because he said the bloggers from the provinces are the likes that really listen to the speakers. it's not like it's bothering me, i just keep on thinking about it because, in my mind, i try to differentiate the bloggers from the provinces from the Manila bloggers.

i told him, the bloggers from the province are really eager to learn, and they really want to know how to do things. and he agreed with what i said. the conversation ended there because he had to go back to his hosting stint and a raffle is coming up shortly, so i, too, need to go back to doing my duty.

and from there, the thought never left my mind. maybe it's because i haven't pointed out what was it with Manila bloggers being different from the others. or maybe it's in defense of what he said and preferred. there's nothing wrong with what he said, don't get me wrong. but i really keep on thinking about it. i am a Manila blogger, and this is not to defend the differentiation/s made above. this is not an issue, this is just a thought i've been having for like, 24 hours now.

so far, what i have in mind about Manila bloggers, or bloggers from Manila at that, is that, yeah, just like our counterparts from the provinces, we also wanna learn about stuff, but yeah, we barely listen to the speakers on seminars or events like that. why? i've observed that Manila bloggers would rather find things out on their own and learn it their way. we also have our opinions, which, when some of us listen, we tend to disagree with the speaker/s on some point of their speech. i don't really see anything wrong with that though. but maybe, that's because that exactly is what differentiate the bloggers of Manila from the rest. we are a diverse kind of people who have our own opinion, our own way of learning things and our way of finding for ourselves how to do things our own special way.

it's just my opinion, anyway.

Kitchen Cures

i came across a very nice article on Yahoo! a few minutes ago. since i have the heightened interest in the kitchen recently, let me share this very useful article.

Kitchen Cures

By Denise V. Suarez | EYP.PH

When we’re feeling sick, we look at the medicine cabinet to see what pills we can take. We should check out the pantry instead. Many everyday ingredients can treat different ailments and unlike drugs, they are inexpensive and with less side effects.

Honey

Honey is good for cuts and scrapes. It has three powerful components: sugar for absorbing moisture so bacteria can’t survive, hydrogen peroxide to disinfect and propolis to kill bacteria. Plus, the honey dries to form a natural bandage. Just spread thickly over the infected area.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is actually the basis of many skin moisturizers. For eczema, rub olive oil on the skin to keep it from drying out.

Spicy dish

Good for a stuffy nose or congestion, spicy dishes loosen the mucus by making the eyes and nose run.

Garlic

Garlic is antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial and an antioxidant so it has many uses. Take garlic when you have a cold to fight the infection and boost the immune system. Mix together minced garlic, warm water and honey for taste. Leave the garlic in the mixture for a few minutes then swallow without chewing. Another way of taking it is by chewing raw garlic cloves with honey. Repeat every two to three hours. Garlic can also be used for athlete’s foot due to its antifungal nature. Simply rub a clove of raw garlic to the affected area.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is used to remove odor so it makes weird sense that you use it for body odor as well. Sprinkling baking soda on your armpits and feet will reduce the moisture you produce.

Chamomile Tea

Wrapping cold, wet tea bags in paper towels can help sooth itchy eyes from colds or hay fever. The tannic acid in tea reduces the itch. Chamomile tea can also be used for calluses. Soak your feet in a diluted chamomile tea bath to soften the hard skin.

Ginger

Ginger has anti-sickness properties so it can help in nausea. Pregnant women can also relieve morning sickness by taking ginger biscuits.

Turmeric

Turmeric is good for treating many skin ailments. It can be used to sooth acne, scrapes and sunburn. Mix several drops of water with ½ teaspoon of powdered turmeric to make a thin paste. Apply the mixture on the blemishes or sunburn and leave for an hour. Be sure to rinse after because turmeric stains.

Rice Water

Bangladeshis have been using rice water as a treatment for diarrhea forever. The proteins in the rice help stabilize the bowel and it’s tastier than any medicine.

Banana

Who knew that aside from being a yummy snack, bananas can be used for bug bites? All you have to do is eat the fruit and apply the banana peel fruit side down on the bite. Hold it there until the itching subsides.

It takes so much courage and bravery to walk away from it all.. while you still can.

“It’s not that I didn’t love myself before. Sometimes we don’t realise that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself - if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now.” - Jennifer Lopez

it takes so much courage and bravery to walk away from it all.. while you still can.

everyone has their limits. sometimes, they may seem like they're like that drink in a restaurant - bottomless. but like any other glass in that resto, there would come a time when enough is enough, you've had your fill so it has to stop and you have to walk away from it.

it surprised me that Jennifer Lopez actually said those words from above in an interview from Cover Media. for once, i agreed with her. what she said doesn't just apply to her, nor anyone who is undergoing separation, whatever kind that may be. it could apply to anyone, or anything.

for example, someone addicted to something, if he or she still has some love and respect for him/herself, would have that courage to turn their backs on what they're addicted to. once they've realized it's not doing them any good, no matter how they're craving for it, they're gonna brave it and forget about it no matter how hard it is.

same for friendship. you can call anyone your friend, anyone can call you their friend. but it takes real friendship to prove that it's that kind of friendship that's gonna build you and support you, and, when you fall, catch you and help you back up.

but, i have to clear myself. i'm not saying that if you don't have that kind of friendship with some people does it mean you're not really friends. it's just that there are those friendships where one benefits more than the other. one might need, say, support, and you just have to give it, and you in turn, would just wait for what the other could offer if you're not the type of person problems likes to take over everytime. it could be the same thing in a relationship, but i'm not gonna make this a novel because i'm just gonna go all over again, saying the same thing.

and just like an addict, while you can withstand that kind of relationship, i think you should. but when you can no longer deal with it, be brave enough to let go.

why am i writing this? the quote from above inspired me. that's all, folks! ☺
